Dr Maher G Morgan (m)
GP Senior Partner
MB ChB LRCP LRCS LRCPS DRCOG 1977 Cairo Dr Morgan joined the Practice in June 1991, and is the Senior Partner of Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice. Since October 2018 Dr Morgan has been working part time within the team. He enjoys all aspects of General Practice and the huge breadth and variety of medicine that it brings; however, he has a special interest in the areas of Rheumatology and Joint Injections. |
Dr Olwen Wright (f)

GP PartnerBSc MB ChB MRCP MRCGP 1994 Edinburgh Dr Wright graduated from the University of Edinburgh before continuing on to complete a Medical rotation up in Scotland. She has previously worked at the QE Hospital in Birmingham within the areas of Intensive Care and Anaesthetics; she then brought this wide breadth of knowledge and experience to the Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice team when she joined us in 2002. Dr Wright has thoroughly enjoyed her move into Primary Care and is interested in all aspects of general practice medicine. She has also been training GP's here at the Practice since 2004. |
Dr Claire Jones (f)
GP Partner MBBS & FRCGP 1991 London Dr Jones joined the Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice team in 1998, having qualified from St. George's Medical School, London, in 1991. She first spent time working in South Wales before making the move to Worcester in 1998. Dr Jones' main interest is in core general practice and she enjoys the real variety of family medicine. Her work also includes Acorns Children's Hospice in Worcester, and is responsible for leading the Practice in all Research work.

MB BS MRCGP DRCOG DFFP London 1997 Dr Bond graduated from St. George's Hospital Medical School, London, in 1997, where she stayed to work in South London and Croydon for 6 years. She has been working as a GP in Worcester since 2003, joining the Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice team in 2008 and becoming a GP Partner in 2011. Dr Bond's special interests are Family Planning, Gynaecology, Palliative care and Cryotherapy, and she is also an experienced GP Trainer. |
Dr Richard Macaskill (m)
GP Partner MB ChB MRCGP Dr Macaskill graduated from Birmingham in 2008. He then joined Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice as a Registrar in 2012, and has been working as part of the team ever since. Dr Macaskill enjoys the huge variety of general practice, but has particular interest in Paediatrics; he has also found it thoroughly rewarding to mentor one of our Advanced Nurse Practitioners through her training. |

MB ChB 1998 Birmingham Dr. Cockeram joined the Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice team in 2016, as a returner to the NHS, having spent 12 years enjoying working abroad as a GP in Sri Lanka. He has a specialist interest in Minor Surgery and End of Life Care.

Dr Laura M Samuel (f)

BSc MB ChB DRCOG DCH DFSRH MRCGP Leicester 2005 Dr Samuel has been a Partner at the Practice since 2011 and enjoys being part of a fantastic team. Dr Samuel has an interest in family planning/Gynaecology (fitting contraceptive coils and implants here at the Practice) and Palliative Care. She is also a trainer tutoring medical students and GP trainees. Dr Samuel regularly represents Spring Gardens at local meetings, where we work alongside other Practices within the city of Worcester to improve patient care.

MBChB DFSRH MRCGP Birmingham 2002 Dr Garner has been a GP in Worcestershire since 2007, and was delighted to join the Spring Gardens team in July 2018. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, but has particular interest in Mental Health and Gynaecology. Dr Garner also enjoys Medical education, training medical students here at the Practice and appraising other GP colleagues all across the West Midlands. She has 3 children and enjoys fitness and outdoor activities. |

Dr. Glennie has been working as a Locum GP and Hospice Doctor, but started working regularly here at Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice in October 2016 as a Salaried GP. Dr Glennie's main interest is Palliative care and she completed the Diploma in Palliative medicine; she also has special interest in Womens' health. |
Dr Nicola McDermott (f)

MBChB MRCGP DFSRH PGA Medical Education Dr. McDermott qualified from Sheffield University in 2006. She is passionate about medical education, and thus went on to complete a Post-graduate Award in Medical Education to become a family planning trainer. In addition to this, Dr McDermott's passion for training led her to being appointed as Year 1 lead for community based medicine at Birmingham Medical School. Her interests are around women's health and contraception, having undertaken DFSRH and an MSc module in Gynaecology in the Community. Dr McDermott fits coils and implants and works in a Contraception and Sexual Health clinic one day a week in Birmingham, too. Outside of all of this, she is married with a little boy who keeps her fit by running around after him constantly!

MBChB 1997 Birmingham, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP Dr. Purves has enjoyed work as a GP in Worcestershire since 2006, having previously been based as a GP in the Black Country. She joined the Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice team in January 2020, and brings with her many special interests, in Joint Injections, Dermatology (all matters relating to skin), Cryotherapy, Paediatrics, Gynaecology, family planning and sexual health.

MBChB Bristol 2011, MRCGP Dr. Hussell has been a GP in Worcestershire since 2016, and in fact previously worked at Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice as part of her GP training. She is delighted to have returned to rejoin the Practice team again in January 2020. Dr Hussell enjoys the wide variety of general practice, but has particular interests in dermatology (skin), family planning and Palliative care.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and Practice Nurse Manager
RGN, MSc Advanced Practice Spring Gardens have been lucky to have Helen working here as a Nurse since 1998, providing our patients with her wealth of Primary Care experience. Helen currently works as an ANP, mostly seeing patients who request appointments that day, for acute illnesses. However, she also continues to do some Nurse-led management of long term conditions such as Diabetes, Asthma and COPD. Helen has wide experience and special interest in Diabetes.

RGN, MSc in Advanced Practice, Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Healthcare Professionals, BSc (Hons) in Defence Nursing, Dip HE Nursing Studies (2002) Jenny joined the nursing team at Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice in 2014. Jenny came to Spring Gardens with a diverse NHS and military nursing background ranging from general medical and surgical nursing, orthopaedics, cardiac, specialist Intensive Care nursing and medical training. Jenny currently works as a highly skilled Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), seeing patients who request appointments on that day, for acute and minor illnesses. Jenny is interested in all aspects of general practice, with a particular interest in long-term conditions such as asthma and COPD, and the management of family planning and sexual health matters.

Palliative Care, Advanced Univeristy Diplomas in General Practice Nursing & Management of Long Term Conditions, MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (pending) Heidi has been a member of the Practice nursing team since 2016. Heidi has an impressively wide range of nursing experience, with her clinical background ranging from Nephrology (health of the kidneys), to Neonatal Intensive Care and School Immunisations. She is interested in all aspects of general practice and family medicine, with particular expertise in the management and care of Diabetes. |

Nurses
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears. |
Sister Julie Mornington (f)

RGN Julie became part of the Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice nursing team in 2013; she brought with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of Primary Care, having worked within this type of nursing for 20 years, including Treatment Room nursing and Health Promotion. Julie qualified as a Nurse Prescriber in 2018 so can closely help and support patients with medication. Here at Spring Gardens Julie's work is mostly around COPD, Asthma and Diabetes, and she particularly enjoys caring for our asthma and COPD patients. |
Sister Brigette Box (f)
Practice Nurse RGN. Diplomas in Asthma, COPD, Spirometry and Leg Ulcer management Brigette was a mature student into nursing. Her background is as an A&E Nurse, where she worked for 7 years in a fast-paced, emergency care environment. She then moved into Primary Care and became a Practice Nurse in 2012, and joined the Spring Gardens Practice team in 2016. What Brigette finds rewarding about Primary Care is the privilege of going through the entire patient journey with the patient, supporting them through the 'ups' and 'downs' of life throughout their care. Her passion is also Wound care and working within the Treatment room here at the Practice. |

DipHE Nursing (Adult) 2002, BSc Primary Care Nursing 2018 Sarah joined the Practice in 2017, bringing with her a wealth of experience within Emergency Medicine (A&E) and many years as a District Nurse. Sarah is highly skilled and well-rounded in even more areas of nursing too - her passion is in fact palliative care. Sarah's passion has been instrumental in bringing excellent PICC Line care for our palliative patients at Spring Gardens - teaching another of our Nurses to deliver this too - a procedure not previously done at the Practice. Sarah's main interests are working in our Treatment room, particularly wound care management. |

Healthcare Assistants
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one. |
Mrs Dawn Lucas (f)
Healthcare Assistant
Dawn joined the Practice team in 1999, meaning she has a wealth of knowledge/experience about Spring Gardens that she is able to offer to our patients. Dawn originally worked in Practice administration, but eventually decided that she wanted to work more closely with patients, in a clinical role. She trained to become a Healthcare Assistant in 2013 and began working in our Treatment Room instead. Some of Dawn's main responsibilities are taking bloods, blood pressures, ECG's and NHS Health Checks. The most rewarding part of the role for Dawn are the close relationships she builds with long-term patients. |

Practice Management
The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care. |

Reception
Our friendly Reception team includes Vicki, Karen, Vicky, Julie G, Rosie, Becky J, Pauline, Kirstie, Nicola, Sally, Julie T, Lynsey, Carrolle & Ella.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, registering patients, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits. We also have a wonderful team of Practice Administrators covering a huge range of day-to-day Practice business, highly skilled in specialist areas of work. This includes our experienced Medical Secretaries, and members of staff working with the patient IT systems and doing complex healthcare coding! The team: Tonia, Sharon, Paige and Julia. |
Health Visitors
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. |

Mrs Sabita Thukral (f)
Reception Coordinator
Sabita was previously employed by Spring Gardens in conjunction with another local Practice as our Health and Wellbeing Officer. We are very pleased that she decided to apply for the position of Reception Coordinator. Sabita used to supports patients with a wealth of local knowledge and experience gained from 9 years working with older people and Carers at Age UK Hereford and Worcestershire. She enjoys all areas of health and wellbeing, is a qualified Holistic Therapist, Reiki and Energy Field Healer, and gained a Diploma in Nutrition. Sabita prides herself on ‘rising to every challenge!’. All of these attributes guarantee that Sabita will excel in her new role and we look forward to her being a member of the team for many years to come. |

BA (Hons) Health and Social Sciences Cataya works for local Worcestershire Charity 'Onside Advocacy', and Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice are lucky to have her providing the service from our Practice several days a week as our Social Prescriber. With a background and extensive training in Counselling, mentoring, family work and advocacy, Cataya has enjoyed working for many years helping support people to get the help they need. Cataya has now brought her experience to the role of 'Social Prescriber', helping support those in need to access a vast range of health/wellbeing services, as well as providing one-to-one support herself, in many different areas of their life.
